Hypervision joined OPTIMAL, an EU-funded project led by JOANNEUM RESEARCH, focused on integrating laser lithography technologies, quality monitoring and manufacturing processes into a single platform.
The project combines parallel and serial patterning, self-learning algorithms and inline monitoring to improve the speed, scale and resource efficiency of microstructure manufacturing. Its use cases include optical lenses, riblet structures, virtual reality lenses and microfluidic chips.
Hypervision’s contribution is the development of micro-optics intended to increase VR/AR display light efficiency by directing individual pixels’ energy toward the user’s eye box. The original announcement described a target of up to tenfold improvement, with possible implementations in fast-LCD backlights, micro-OLED microlens arrays and privacy add-ons for monitors and smartphones.
