HyperOcular micro Display (HOuD) Visual Engine

The visual engine HOuD is abbreviation of Hyper Ocular (HO) adjusted for micro OLED Display (uD). Like the HO140 (based on fast LCD) and supporting 140° monocular FoV, the HOuD is also based on x2 lenses with x4 aspherical surfaces. The difference that HOuD provides works with micro OLED displays having 50% of diagonal dimension and therefore having much more magnification to get descent FoV. The difference is shown below:

The Pros of HOuD are: (1) compact volume (1/8 of that of HO140) and 3.8K displays with 6um pixels are resulting in 40 to 50 PPD. The Pros of HO140 are: (1) twice eyebox, (2) low cost, (3) bigger FoV and also (4) enablement of VAC and Brightest Boost solutions by backlight modification.

Hypervision is releasing two versions of the HOuD with ER=8mm for bigger FoV and ER=10mm for more comfortable form-factor. The SPECs are indicated below:

Due to the concave near-eye surface of the HOuD the module diameter is very compact despite decent Eye Relief and biggest FoV for micro OLED based Visual Engines (follow us to get App.Note about that). Together with the short Track Length  TTL=12mm only (between the center of lens to the pixel plane of micro OLED Display) the HOuD results in very compact solution. Several Ref.Designs will be released to demonstrate the HOuD performance and we call them Ultra Slim (US) due to very compact form factor. Stay tuned to get more information about:

1. US220.VR - Ultra Slim RDK with 220° Horizontal FoV, based on x4 HOuD.ER10 (VRDom architecture).

2. US140.VR - Ultra Slim RDK with 140° Horizontal FoV, based on x2 HOuD.ER8 tilted by 2x10°
