Motorized Camera Testbed
The MCT by Hypervision is universal test platform for any VR device enabling optical characteristics comparison using the same and repeatable conditions. The MCT imaging could be configured to measure FoV up to 200° in single shot and 360° FoV by camera rotation. As for visual fidelity as function of angle through VR lens, the Point Spread Function (PSF) is used and imaging sharpness equivalent to human supervision of 1/120 arc-min (~104 pixels per degree [ppd]) is achieved, along with additional standard and proprietary visual fidelity tests.
The MCT has 3 axis of motorized motion controlled from PC through USB interface. Z-axis is used to emulate different Eye Reliefs (ER); X-axis emulates VR lens off-centricity due to non-appropriate IPD adjustment and Horizontal Rotational axis positioned 12mm from the first lens surface of the camera objective and emulates eye rotation. The motorized camera movement over X,Z and rotational axes are useful for the eyebox characterization by means of ImagingConfig#3 (see below) where set of visual fidelity threshold parameters are measured.
In order to emulate human eye vision MCT use high resolution (8Mpx and 5Mpx) cameras and objectives. There are 3 configurations, each one of them for different human eye aspects emulation as described in the table above.
The MCT Software consists of the following parts:
-
Imaging view, control and acquisition GUI
-
Camera motion control GUI (+ programmed motion scripting)
-
Test patterns generation GUI
-
Visual module (VR display + VR Lens) specifications analysis as function of angle view
-
Pancake lens related module for Ghosts to Signal ratio evaluation
Several test patterns are shown below. For more information about MCT software, please contact us
The MCT by Hypervision is used for testing the Visual Engines by Hypervision as well as any other VR headset could be adjusted to be used on the MCT system. For the details please contact us.
